How Can You Support Us
How Can You Donate
CENFACS offers straightforward and easy ways for individuals and organisations to help projects and project beneficiaries. Donations can be made directly to CENFACS grant making programme or indirectly to help with CENFACS’ running costs in order to deliver this programme.
Why You Need To Help
There is a greater need to the poor and needy people of Africa. According to the United Nations Development Programme’s (UNDP’s) Human Development Report 2005: Amongst 38 million people infected with HIV, 25 million of them are in Sub-Saharan Africa (SSA). The maternal mortality ratio is 920 per 100,000 live births and less than 40% of women deliver with skilled care. Likewise, according to the United Nations International Children’s Emergency Fund (UNICEF) 2004 Report: There are almost 11 million orphans in Sub-Saharan Africa who have been devastated by the HIV/AIDS epidemic. The great majority of young people aged 15-24 living with AIDS in Southern Africa are female. All the indicators show that SSA is one the regions of the world off track for achieving the MILLENNIUM DEVELOPMENT GOAL targets by 2015. Poverty (both human poverty and income poverty) in SSA is increasing both in proportion and in absolute numbers. Africa’s poverty rate recently increased to more than 46%, that is almost 291 million poor people. Around 270 million of people suffer from malaria in Africa. Again, according to the UNDP’s Human Development Report 2006, supporting Africa’s access to basic water and sanitation facilities would help reduce the financial burden on health systems by about $610 millions in Sub-Saharan Africa alone.
When supporting CENFACS and CENFACS projects, you will have the opportunity to:
- help the above distressed African people to help themselves

- explore and develop your own strength in helping African people and others,
- become involved with causes helping the disadvantaged and needy African people within Africa, the UK, and global contexts
- contribute to the debate on global poverty reduction and be aware of how world interdependency affects all of us whether living in the UK or in Africa
- build bridges with other people, cultures and communities
- promote sustainable patterns and ways of human development
- become part of UK , African and global development networkers devoted to the eradication of poverty, capability deprivation and social exclusion
- sponsor projects and run schemes that enhance the freedom, self-help capacities and capabilities of the poor and disadvantaged African people.
- realise how your support can make a world of difference for yourself and for others
How Your Help Will Be Used
Making a donation to CENFACS is not only about the transfer of money. It is first and foremost the sharing and development of knowledge and skills. Through our Development Programme, we work in strategic partnership with African-based organisations through a participative and bottom-up approach to set up and develop sustainable initiatives. Our African project partners initiate projects and CENFACS help them to plan, execute, control and close the project in the most successful way. CENFACS helps them also to develop a viable and accountable voluntary sector, which could compliment the private and government sectors in their own countries in the area of poverty alleviation.
Who Will Benefit
The focus of CENFACS is on helping poor and needy African people. More details about the beneficiaries are outlined on this website.
How To Make Sure Giving Is Effective
Grant provision is carefully examined and concentrated only on greater needs, where it is most needed and to genuine and vetted organisations. Any grant given, however small might be, has to produce unambiguous development benefits and effects on the poorest people. Before deciding where and whom to grant funding to, grant assessors will assess the project and the organisation initiator. A member of the Executive Committee will visit the project and organisation applicant. After the decision is made, a Volunteer Project Implementer is attached to the project for monitoring and successful implementation.
